My Hatha Yoga classes are drawn from the Iyengar, Vinyasa, and Kundalini traditions and provide a supportive environment for beginners, the flexibility challenged and for those who wish to enhance an existing yoga practice. Students learn interdisciplinary yoga techniques to relieve stress, improve health and increase well being.
My classes are both gentle yet strengthening. Each class will focus on breath awareness techniques in combination with alignment tips for learning and improving the effectiveness of each posture.
It is my intention while teaching to tailor the postures to the individual student. For this reason I make use of the full array of yoga props and tools available to provide support in the postures and to give the student a sense of success regardless of perceived ability.
Types of Classes Available
Introduction to Yoga This class is designed as an introduction for the first time student or beginning student. Basic postures will be demonstrated and an overview of yoga philosophy given.
Earthlings Eco-Yoga Learn about personal sustainability, your inner ecosystem, and the dynamic intelligence of the Natural World, while practicing yoga asana! In Earthlings Eco-yoga you will be guided through an ecological meditation in action, connecting with the prolific support of powerful natural forces all around and inside of you, recognizing your kinship with All of Life as an integral member of your living planet. The whole Web of Life collectively aspires for your wellbeing! Core Strengthening and Alignment This class will focus on strengthening the body through both vinyasa flow exercises and through alignment tips for each posture. An emphasis on core strength will be given along with breath awareness exercises.
Restorative Yoga This class consists of several deeply relaxing and therapeutic postures desiged to rejuvenate the body passively. You will be provided with yoga props to help you relax completely in each pose as you let breath and gravity work together to release tension and restore calmness and balance to the body.
Partner Yoga for Two Have fun learning yoga postures for two and enjoy going deeper into each pose with the support of your partner. Great for building trust and improving communication. This class focuses on present moment awareness and yoga philosophy.
